When you register a domain, you need to provide an authentic postal address, email account and phone number in accordance with the policies approved by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN). This info, though, is not kept only by the registrar company, but is available to the general public on WHOIS web sites too, so anybody can check your info and some people may not be satisfied with that fact. Consequently, many registrars have introduced the so-called ID Protection service, which conceals the domain name registrant’s details and upon a WHOIS check, people will see the details of the domain registrar, not those of the domain owner. This service is also known as WHOIS Protection or Privacy Protection, but all these expressions refer to one and the same service. As of now, most of the top-level domain names around the world allow ID Protection to be added, but there are still country-specific extensions that do not support this service.

ID Protection in Cloud Hosting

If you have ordered a Linux cloud hosting from us and you’ve registered one or more domains under your account, you will be able to activate ID Protection for any of them without any effort and to keep your private info safe. Of course, this can be done only with the extensions that support this option. In your Hepsia Control Panel, you’ll find an “ID Protect” icon next to each of your domain names. Its colour will inform you if a domain is protected or not and in the second case, you can add ID Protection with only a couple of mouse clicks. Thus, you can protect your personal details even if you haven’t enabled the ID Protection service during the web hosting account activation procedure. You will be able to renew or to disable the ID Protection service for any of your domain names just as easily.

ID Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

In case you have a semi-dedicated server account with us and you register a domain name under it, you can enable our ID Protection service with ease. This requires only a couple of mouse clicks in the Registered Domains section of the Hepsia hosting Control Panel, via which you manage everything related to your semi-dedicated account. This is the place where you can see all your registered domain names and for each one of them you’ll find an “ID Protect” button, using which you can activate, renew or disable the ID Protection service. Of course, this can be done only with generic and country-code domain extensions that are ID Protection-eligible and you will be able to see this beforehand, so you won’t end up requesting a service that we can’t provide.
